A major focus of International Equine is developing turf runners, and we strongly feel we have one on our hands with St. Armands Key. He is an extremely athletic colt by Lost Treasure, who himself hails from the families of WAR FRONT/GALILEO, as well as the foundation mare, URBAN SEA. St. Armands Key is out of the extremely productive and durable mare Henny’s Hurricane, a six-time winner and earner of over $210k.
Purchased on behalf of International Equine at the Keeneland November 2021 sale by Clark Shepherd of Shepherd Equine Advisers, St. Armands Key is trained by Joe Sharp and made his career debut in September 2023 at Kentucky Downs. He followed up that start with a game 2nd at Keeneland in October going a flat mile over the turf. In November of his two-year old year, St. Armands Key broke his maiden in front running, gate to wire fashion, with Jaime Torres up over the firm turf at Fairgrounds Racecourse in New Orleans, LA. With the win he became his sire’s first winner: St. Armands Key First Winner for Lost Treasure – BloodHorse
He has continued racing in 2025, winning off a 9-month layoff at Fairgrounds Racecourse in February under Irad Ortiz Jr, while earning a career high Beyer Speed Figure. He followed that up with a back-to-back win at Fairgrounds in March, again with Irad Ortiz Jr in the irons.
In eight starts he has an ITM% of 75%, with 3 wins, 1 place and 2 shows. He now has career earnings in excess of $144,000.
